"These beautiful shawls are made from 50% peace silk and 50% vegetable fiber. The vegetable fiber is from poplar trees. Made for those who say, 'I don't want a creature to die because I will wear silk', peace silk, non-violent silk or Ashima silk, is created without any harm to the silk worms or moths.  A species of moth with a golden coloured cocoon are allowed to mature to enable the moths to hatch before their silk is spun.  This species was almost extinct prior to being located and bred by our passionate producer. Our local Turkish producers care for the silkworms which feed on mulberry leaves grown especially for the purpose.   Taking longer to produce than other silk, using ‘ethical fashion’ principles includes complying with legal and environmental guidelines" - I source these beautiful scarves from a small family business in Turkey before I dye them.

Wrap yourself or someone you love in Indigo!"

"The Gift of Indigo"

I planted, grew, and nurtured these magical plants in my garden for months before they were ready to harvest for the dye. For that reason, these beauties can only be created during a limited window of time when the plants are fresh and growing before the frost comes.

This is an eco-friendly and sustainable craft that I would refer to as part of the slow clothing movement. Used fresh in a cold dye process, Indigo is capable of revealing this beautiful healing blue color. Because these pieces are naturally hand dyed, their slight color variations make every piece truly unique.

As a way of giving back, we are honored to support reforestation with One Tree Planted as part of our commitment to sustainability.  A tree planted for every item sold. One more tree will be planted because of you!

*Hand wash with cold water and neutral ph soap, hang to dry. Please note that these are plant dyed by hand and colors may possibly change or fade over time due to the nature of botanical dyeing.
